We have for sale a beautiful sterling silver Blue John double sided medium pendant. It has been beautifully hand crafted in Sheffield, England. In an oval design, this unique pendant spins, it has a chain style bail, and the pendant is set with a unique piece of Derbyshire Blue John on the front and back. A 20" sterling silver curb chain is supplied as standard, other lengths are available. This pendant has the Sheffield Assay Office hallmark, date letter X.
Blue John stone is a rare, semiprecious mineral, fluorite, found at only one location in the world. This is at Treak Cliff Cavern which is at the western end of Hope Valley near Castleton in Derbyshire, England. The name Blue John derives from the French Bleu Jaune, meaning Blue John. It was first discovered by miners exploring the cavern for lead.
